Wilderness Camping Supplies is a division of Clarandon LLC. Clare and Don grew up in Minnesota, camping in the central lakes area, along the north shore of Lake Superior and in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCA). We hiked along the Mississippi and St. Croix rivers and in northern Wisconsin.

After college we lived in southern Germany for a year, near the Black Forest and the Bavarian Alps. During our stay we hiked in Switzerland, the French Alps, the Pyrenees and the Loire River Valley. As newly-weds on a tight budget we were on foot, equipped with only our hiking boots and heavy army surplus backpacks.

Back in the US, excursions with other adults and later our two sons found us canoeing in the BWCA in Minnesota and Quetico Provincial Park in Canada. We also enjoyed pack trips on horseback in the Beartooth Mountains of Montana.

Over the years, there has been a vast improvement in the quality and availability of wilderness camping supplies. Heavy canvas tents and backpacks have been replaced by lightweight nylon gear. Health and safety issues have been addressed with water purifiers, survival kits, rechargeable batteries and a wealth of electronic equipment. Our small start-up inventory is just a beginning – other products will be added soon.
